I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to understanding suit sizes. I wear shorts/slacks with a 44"" waste and have a 48"" chest, so I ordered a 50R which has a tag on it that says 50R x 46W. The pants will only fit at the hip and only if I suck it in. The jacket is almost a good fit but is ever so tight the shoulders, and I'd have to hold my gut in a bit. The suit I wore at my daughters wedding was a 50, so I was pretty sure I was buying the right size. Unfortunately this suit is not close enough to call it a proper fit. Otherwise a nice suit though.
